Word template · what applies in 2026 · what's required in 2027
Invoice template Word — why it's not enough in 2027.
A Word invoice template is a fast fix for a single invoice — you fill it in by hand, calculate VAT, save as PDF. It works in 2026 (and for B2C even after Jan 1, 2027). For B2B between VAT payers, however, from 2027 you need structured UBL XML — without it you face penalties under § 154 + § 155 of Slovak Act No. 563/2009 Coll. (Tax Code)

- ✗No UBL XML — unusable for B2B from 2027.

info@1faktura.skCan I still issue a Word invoice in 2026?+
Yes, until Dec 31, 2026 for both B2B and B2C. A Word template is legitimate — it covers the required fields of § 74 of the Slovak VAT Act if you fill it in correctly. From Jan 1, 2027, however, B2B invoices must include a structured UBL 2.1 XML alongside the PDF/Word version, per Act No. 385/2025 Coll.
What are the risks of using a Word template?+
Three main ones. (1) Manual VAT calculations — common errors with multiple rates (23 / 19 / 5 %). (2) No automatic numbering — risk of duplicate or skipped numbers, which the tax office will gladly spot during an audit. (3) No UBL XML — from 2027 a penalty under § 154/§ 155 of the Slovak Tax Code (€100 – €10,000).
Does the generator look like Word — like a traditional invoice?+
Yes. The PDF output from our generator has the classic "invoice" layout — header with the number, supplier + customer in two columns, items table, totals grouped by VAT rate, payment details with QR PAY. Visually it doesn't differ from a Word template — you just don't have to calculate by hand and you also get UBL XML.
Can I prepare data in Word and then copy it into the generator?+
Yes, good practice. Before first using the generator, prepare in Word or Notepad: name + Company ID + VAT ID of the supplier, name + Company ID + VAT ID of the customer, IBAN, item description, amount. Then paste step by step into the generator. After the first use, the generator remembers your data via localStorage — on the next invoice you just fill in the differences.
Word and Excel for B2C — does it make sense in 2027?+
For B2C (sales to consumers), Slovak Act No. 385/2025 Coll. does not require UBL XML — you can keep issuing PDF and paper invoices. Word/Excel is therefore still acceptable for B2C. Practical tip: if you invoice both B2B and B2C, switch to a tool that handles both cases — you won't have to remember which customer is a VAT payer and which isn't.
